BlindAid

For visually impaired Londoners since 1834

Vision

We aim to ensure that no visually impaired Londoner is left living in isolation.

Mission

As London’s oldest charity for blind and visually impaired people, BlindAid works to improve quality of life and promotes independence for Londoners with a visual impairment. We provide individualised practical and emotional support to reduce the social isolation that many people living with a visual impairment can experience

Our services

Our services are designed to fit the holistic needs of our users. Many people diagnosed with a visual impairment may not initially have the coping systems and emotional support needed to negotiate a new, unfamiliar world. Visual impairment can make even the simplest tasks monumentally difficult.

Therefore, we provide an integrated approach, with two core services supplemented by four additional services, to fit the varying needs of Londoners living with a visual impairment.

COVID-19 UPDATE

COVID-19 is shining a light on isolation and loneliness; for blind and visually impaired people it presents even greater hardships.

BlindAid has provided support for our hidden community of service users for 185 years – throughout many other traumatic times in London’s history.  We will continue to support our service users through COVID-19, just as our charity has in times gone by.  We are ensuring our people hear a familiar, trusted voice regularly and are getting the support they need now.

BlindAid has been making a difference as London’s oldest sight loss charity for many years  – please help us now by making a donation.

Donate

Our free services can change lives for people who are blind or partially sighted in the twelve inner London boroughs in which we work. However, we need your support to continue and grow.

With your donations, we can continue to provide practical and emotional support to those in need. We appreciate every donation, all of which go towards helping Londoners in need.
